Want to help, but you don’t know how? We have many volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule whether you’re a stay at home parent, grandparent, or a 40 hour a week working parent. We hope that we can count on you to help keep our programs and events going. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities, along with a brief description, where we can use your gift of time. If you find an area you are interested in helping, fill out the information below and a committee member will contact you with more information. Thank you in advance for your dedication to children.
SPIKE - wonderful and successful literacy program that promotes reading every day. We need people who can come in once a month during the day, usually the 2nd Tuesday, and help count calendars and distribute prizes. Your time: A little over an hour a month
Fundraising Help – We need help at various times throughout the year when our fundraisers are due, to count the orders and help distribute products and prizes. Your time: 1-2 hours per fundraiser
Fall Fest – Our BIGGEST family event of the year!! This fun event will be in January and we need A LOT of help running various games, events and food stands. Lots of day and evening time slots available! Everything from decorating to clean up. Your time: 1-4 hours
Hospitality - This is a great opportunity to say “Thank You” to the wonderful staff that works at Oakhurst. Once a month, PTA hosts a lunch to show our appreciation. You don’t even have to cook; we love donations of soda, paper goods or decorations. Of course, cooks are always needed. Your time: dropping off a donation once a month
Grandparent Lunch Week – This is a wonderful week where the children get to invite their grandparent, or special person, to eat lunch with them. We need help during a specified lunchtime to seat, fill up drinks and clean up. Your time: about 1 hour
Field Day - This spring activity is held in conjunction with our P.E. department. Kids play fun games during the first part of the day. It is a 2-day event, with the younger grades one day and the older grades the next. Your time: a little over 2 hours
Mustang Publishing – This award winning program allows our young budding writers to write and publish a book all on their own. We typically have over 150 writers submit a book and we need help to type and scan those books. Training will be provided. You will need a computer and scanner to help with this program.
5th Grade Celebration - Calling all 5th grade parents! Send off our graduates with a great remembrance of their grade school days. There are 2 events, the big all day celebration and the 5th grade breakfast. Both of these events will be held in May. We need A LOT of parents to help. Your time: A morning or afternoon shift
Talent Show – If you are interested in chairing this event, please let a board member know. The show is held in late April and showcases some of our budding dancers, musicians, and comedians. We need volunteers to work backstage and along with the committee chair. Your time: 1-2 hours
Spirit Team – We can use help at the beginning of the school year collecting orders and distributing T-shirts. Throughout the year you may be asked to Your time: 1 hour a day, you pick the day
